Moving On

Our daughter, who has always lived near us, has moved several states away. We have had a variety of emotions as the day of her departure drew close. As anyone who has moved knows, it is a LOT of work. Long hours of sorting, packing, cleaning, and getting rid of what won’t be going happens. Then that last day she and I went to get the truck and the loading began. I knew what we were doing the whole time we were packing things, but we were so busy, I could put it out of my mind, but as the truck was being loaded and the house was being emptied, it hit harder. We were both beyond exhaustion, so that added to it.

With all of it, our emotions were varied. We are so excited for her and pray for God to bless, protect, and use her in this next stage of her life. At the same time, it is not easy having her farther away and not being there to help with things that need to be done. As she was talking of moving earlier on, I prayed about it and the Lord asked if I trusted Him to take care of her. When she was a baby, we dedicated her to the Lord. She belongs to Him. And yes, I trust He will take care of her as I trust Him to take care of our son and his family, and all the situations in our lives. I know that doesn’t mean it will always be smooth sailing. Storms of life come. But I know that the One who stills the storms and walks on water will be there for each of us in our time of need.

Faith is not believing everything will always go our way, but rather knowing that our heavenly Father will always be with us in whatever comes our way, and that “all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Ro 8:28”. That promise is still valid and for each of us today.

Changes happen to all of us. Sometimes we are ready and expect them. Other times they catch us by surprise and can shake us to the core. Either way, our Lord is not surprised, and we can trust Him to lead us in and through it all. He will take care of us. No matter what you are facing, He knows the best path for you to follow and will lead you if you let Him. I pray the Lord gives you peace, comfort and wisdom for whatever you are facing. May you sense His presence in everything you are going through!
